Welcome to Bury Radio Society.
Our membership includes those who have operated radios professionally, for example as part of their work in the military and merchant navy. We also have members who have extensive experience of electronics, for example as career RF and service engineers. Our members are therefore extremely well placed to answer technical questions, provide advice about antennas and equipment, and mentor newly qualified licensees as they get on the air for the first time.
As well as general operating, our members’ interests include construction, IOTA, ROTA, RAYNET, data modes, DMR and more.
Recently we have had talks and demonstrations covering a range of topics including DMR, construction techniques, numbers stations and working satellites to name just a few.
As an active club, some of our members annually visit HAM Radio in Friedrichshafen, Germany, and RSGB Convention in Milton Keynes. We arrange day trips and weekends away throughout the year, operating ‘portable’ from locations near and far for all our members.
New members will always receive a warm welcome at our club. So if you would like to visit us, join us, or find out more about training please get in touch. We look forward to seeing you at Bury Radio Society.
We meet regularly in our shack at the East Lancs Railway Station on Tuesday evenings at 7 o’clock.
